Teterboro to Opa-locka before lunch

New York to Miami is 1,090 miles, which a light jet flies non-stop in under three hours and a heavy jet in about two and a half. It is the East Coast's busiest private route, so the fleets at both ends are deep and one-way pricing is as good as it gets in the United States.

Opa-locka is the Miami arrival for almost every private flight: twenty to thirty minutes to South Beach, Brickell or Coral Gables, with customs on the field. Miami International takes the VIP airliners and sits fifteen minutes from Brickell; Fort Lauderdale suits Boca Raton and the northern coast.

Leave Teterboro at 9 am and you are on Collins Avenue by 12.30 pm. In Art Basel week, over Christmas and on Grand Prix weekend, Opa-locka's parking is the constraint, so we book the slot with the flight and hold Fort Lauderdale as the fallback.

What the flight costs

Prices below are indicative one-way figures for the whole aircraft, not per seat. They cover the flight, crew and fuel; parking in Miami, repositioning and handling are quoted separately once we know your dates.

Aircraft are based at both ends in numbers, so a same-day departure is usually possible and a return with the aircraft waiting is priced well below two one-way flights. Tell us your dates and we confirm the figure in writing.

Aircraft that suit a three-hour flight

A light jet flies New York to Miami comfortably in under three hours. A midsize cabin adds a lavatory with a door and room to work; super-midsize and heavy cabins suit a larger party or a family with luggage for a fortnight. The Learjet 55 and the Legacy 650 in our fleet both cover the route.

When Miami fills up

Miami's season runs from November to April, and its biggest weeks fill Opa-locka's ramp days ahead.

  1. December Art Basel Miami Beach The busiest private-aviation week in the United States. Slots, parking and hotel suites go a month out.
  2. December to January Christmas and New Year The peak of the winter season, with the Caribbean and the Bahamas as onward legs.
  3. February Miami International Boat Show Yacht owners and builders in for the week; Opa-locka is full.
  4. March Ultra and spring break A young crowd but a real surge in light and midsize traffic.
  5. May Miami Grand Prix Race weekend at Hard Rock Stadium. Aircraft position in from the whole hemisphere; book early and expect slot windows.

Miami to New York

The return leaves from Opa-locka, Miami International or Fort Lauderdale and lands at Teterboro, Westchester, JFK or Newark. Northbound allow about two and a half hours; the evening departure from Opa-locka lands in New York before 10 pm.

Teterboro's voluntary curfew runs from 11 pm to 6 am, so a very late return may mean Westchester or Newark. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving and the first days of January, Teterboro's slots are the scarce resource, and we secure the return when we book the outbound.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private jet from New York to Miami cost?

Indicative one-way prices for the whole aircraft start at about $14,500 in a light jet; about $18,000 in a midsize jet; about $22,000 in a super-midsize jet; about $30,000 in a heavy jet. Repositioning, overnight parking and handling are quoted separately once we know your dates, and a return with the aircraft waiting is usually priced well below two one-way flights.

How long is the flight?

About 2 hours 45 flight time for the cabins shown on this page, depending on the aircraft, the winds and the airports at each end. Every cabin class listed flies it without a stop.

Which airports can I use?

From New York: Teterboro, Westchester County, John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty. Into Miami: Miami-Opa locka Executive, Miami International and Fort Lauderdale. Each is described above with its drive time and the operators that handle private flights there.

When is the route hardest to book?

Art Basel week in early December, the fortnight over Christmas and New Year, the Boat Show in February, spring break in March and the Grand Prix in May. Opa-locka's parking fills first; Fort Lauderdale absorbs the overflow, and we book the return with the outbound.

Can my dog travel with me?

Pets travel in the cabin. On a domestic flight no paperwork beyond standard identification is needed; from abroad, a dog needs a microchip, a CDC import form and a rabies record.

Can I pay for the charter with crypto?

Yes. Bank transfer in any major currency; crypto also accepted. Tell us your preferred coin and we confirm the network and payment instructions with the contract.

Do you arrange the car at each end?

Yes. We coordinate chauffeured cars on both ends, so a car meets you at the aircraft at Opa-locka and the driver knows the airport's private terminal.

Where would you like to fly?

Tell us what you have in mind. Our team will take care of the charter arrangements and discuss crypto payment if you prefer.
