Over the top of the world
New York to Tokyo is 6,740 miles by the polar route, which only the longest-range cabins fly non-stop: the Gulfstream G650ER, the Global 7500 and the Global 8000 make Haneda in about thirteen and a half hours. Other ultra-long-range cabins stop in Anchorage and land about two hours later.
Tokyo is fourteen hours ahead of New York in winter, so a morning departure from Teterboro lands the following afternoon. Haneda's business-jet terminal is twenty minutes from Marunouchi and Roppongi, but its slots are rationed and released in advance, and overnight parking is capped, so the aircraft often positions to Narita after dropping you.
Passport and crew details go to the Japanese authorities in advance, so we ask for them early and handle the slot requests at both airports.
