How to buy a Rolex today

Rolex sells only through its official retailers, and the steel professional watches are allocated rather than put on display. A steel Daytona, GMT-Master II or Submariner usually means an interest list at the retailer, with no date and no promise.

We work outside that list. Tell us the reference, the dial, and whether an unworn watch matters to you. We go to our network and come back with what is realistic before you commit. The individual watch is then described in writing: condition, the date on the warranty card, and what comes with it.

The Daytona is the watch we are asked for most, the steel 126500LN above all, followed by the Submariner and the GMT-Master II. Gold and gem-set references are usually quicker to find than steel.

Rolex collections and references

A collection name is a starting point. Reference, generation, material and configuration identify the watch more precisely.

Cosmograph Daytona

Rolex's chronograph since 1963. The current generation, introduced in 2023, runs on calibre 4131; the generation before it used the 4130. References differ by metal, bezel, dial and bracelet.

  • 126500LNSteel, white or black dial, ceramic bezel
  • 126508Yellow gold, Oyster bracelet
  • 126518LNYellow gold, Oysterflex strap
  • 126506Platinum, ice-blue dial
  • 116500LNSteel, the previous generation, 2016 to 2023

Submariner

The diving watch, launched in 1953 and water-resistant to 300 metres. Since 2020 the case is 41 mm, with and without a date.

  • 124060Steel, no date
  • 126610LNSteel, date, black bezel
  • 126610LVSteel, date, green bezel
  • 116610LV"Hulk", green dial and bezel, 2010 to 2020

GMT-Master II

A second time zone read from the 24-hour bezel, first seen on the GMT-Master in 1955. Bezel colours give the nicknames; bracelet and metal complete the reference.

  • 126710BLROSteel, blue and red bezel, "Pepsi"
  • 126710BLNRSteel, blue and black bezel, "Batman"
  • 126720VTNRSteel, green and black bezel, crown on the left
  • Everose, gem-setSapphire and ruby bezel

Datejust and Day-Date

The Datejust (1945) and the Day-Date (1956) come in more sizes, metals, dials, bezels and bracelets than any other Rolex family. The reference number and a description of the dial settle which watch is meant.

  • 126334Datejust 41, steel and white gold, fluted bezel
  • 126300Datejust 41, steel, smooth bezel
  • 228238Day-Date 40, yellow gold

What to check before you buy

  1. Use the full reference number and configuration rather than the collection name alone.
  2. Check the dial. The same Daytona reference exists with several dials, and a replaced or refinished dial changes the watch.
  3. Ask about current condition, refinishing, replacement components and any aftermarket parts.
  4. Confirm the date on the warranty card. The Rolex guarantee runs five years from the date of sale, so the date shows whether the watch is still covered.
  5. Itemise the box, papers, tags, spare links and service records included, and review the purchase terms. Broad market demand does not establish value or future performance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a Rolex Daytona without the waiting list?

Yes. We do not go through the retailer's interest list. We source the reference through our network, confirm what is realistic on availability and timing for your request, and set out the individual watch in writing before you commit.

Is an unworn Rolex the same as a new one?

An unworn watch has never been worn, but it has been sold before, so it comes from a private or trade seller rather than the retailer. The guarantee runs from the date on its card. Tell us if unworn matters to you; it narrows the search.

Do you source earlier references such as the 116500LN?

Yes. The previous Daytona generation looks close to the current one and can be easier to find. If it does not matter which generation you end up with, say so: it widens the search and usually shortens the wait.

Will the watch come with box and papers?

Tell us if a full set matters and we search on that basis. What accompanies the watch is confirmed for the individual piece and listed in writing before you decide.

Can I pay for a Rolex in crypto?

Yes. Bank transfer in any major currency, or Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT and other major coins and stablecoins. The asset, network and amount are confirmed with you before any transfer, and only once the individual watch is agreed.
