Take-off and landing
Most operators ask for the pet to be on a harness, on your lap or in a secured carrier for taxi, take-off and landing. In the cruise the crew may let a calm dog settle on the floor.

Charter a jet with your dog or cat and it flies in the cabin with you, not in the hold. We find an operator that accepts pets on the aircraft and check the entry rules where you land. Bank transfer in any major currency; crypto also accepted.

On an airline, a pet usually flies in the cabin only if it is small enough to travel in a soft carrier under the seat in front. A larger dog goes in the hold, and many airlines will not take snub-nosed breeds such as French bulldogs and pugs in the hold at all. Flying into Great Britain, a pet on a scheduled flight has to travel as cargo whatever its size.
On a private jet the pet boards with you at the private terminal, walks up the airstair on its lead and stays in the cabin for the whole flight. There is no check-in desk, no crate drop and no wait at an animal reception. You choose the departure time, so the walk before the flight can be a proper one.
The aircraft belongs to an operator, and the operator decides whether animals may fly on it. Some accept pets on every aircraft, some only on certain tails, and some owners who lease their jet for charter do not allow animals at all. We ask before we quote, so every option we send already accepts your pet.
Most operators ask for the pet to be on a harness, on your lap or in a secured carrier for taxi, take-off and landing. In the cruise the crew may let a calm dog settle on the floor.
Limits are set per aircraft. A larger cabin takes more animals and bigger dogs, so tell us the breed and weight of each pet when you ask for a quote.
Some operators supply seat covers or ask you to bring a blanket. A cleaning charge can apply if the cabin needs a deep clean afterwards; the quote says so in advance.
Dogs and cats are routine. Birds, rabbits and other animals depend on the operator and on the import rules where you land, so we check both first.
A private jet does not change the import rules for animals. The pet needs the same microchip, vaccinations and certificates as on an airline, and some countries add conditions for private flights: an approved operator, a particular airport, or advance notice. These are the rules for the destinations our clients fly to most.
| Arriving in | What a dog or cat needs | On a private jet |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain | Microchip, rabies vaccination at least 21 days before travel, and an EU pet passport (from the EU) or a Great Britain pet health certificate issued within 10 days (from the US, the UAE and elsewhere). Dogs need tapeworm treatment 1 to 5 days before arrival. | The charter operator must be on the government's approved list for that airport, such as Farnborough, Biggin Hill, Luton or Stansted. No more than five pets. Not needed from Ireland. |
| European Union | Microchip, rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an animal health certificate endorsed by the government vet, used within 10 days. Dogs flying to Ireland, Finland or Malta also need tapeworm treatment. | The aircraft lands at an airport listed as a travellers' point of entry, where the pet is presented for checks. No more than five pets. |
| Switzerland | As for the European Union: microchip, rabies vaccination and the health certificate. | Arriving direct from the UK or the US, the jet must land at Basel, Geneva or Zurich. |
| United States | Dogs: at least six months old, microchipped, with a CDC Dog Import Form receipt; more from countries the CDC rates high risk for rabies. Cats: no federal rabies rule, but some states have their own. | The CDC rules apply to private flights. A dog vaccinated abroad and arriving from a high-risk country must land where the CDC has a registered animal care facility, such as JFK, Miami or Los Angeles. |
| United Arab Emirates | An import permit issued before travel, microchip, vaccinations, a health certificate and parasite treatment within 14 days. A rabies antibody test from countries the UAE rates high risk, the US among them. Some breeds are banned. | Whether the pet stays in the cabin or must be declared as cargo on arrival is confirmed with the Dubai or Abu Dhabi handler before we book. Two pets per person a year. |
| The Bahamas | An import permit, a veterinary health certificate and a current rabies vaccination. | The permit travels with the pet, so we apply for it well before the flight. |
| Japan | Two rabies vaccinations, an antibody test and a 180-day wait after it, and notice to the animal quarantine service 40 days before arrival. | Arrival only at designated airports, among them Haneda, Narita and Kansai. |
| Singapore | A pet licence and an import licence, microchip, rabies vaccination and a health certificate. | Inspection at the Changi animal quarantine station, booked ahead; the pet transfers there in a rigid travel crate. |
| Australia | Arrival in Melbourne only, as manifest cargo, and at least 10 days in quarantine at Mickleham. | A pet cannot fly into Australia in a private jet cabin. |
Checked on 12 October 2026 against gov.uk, the European Commission, the US CDC, the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office, Japan's Animal Quarantine Service, Singapore's Animal and Veterinary Service, the Bahamas government and Australia's Department of Agriculture. Rules change, so we check them again for every flight.
Assistance dogs follow separate rules in several countries.

Flying to London with a petFrom outside the EU, an animal health certificate and a check at the airport of entry.
Flying to Paris with a petOne of the three Swiss airports where a pet may arrive direct from the UK or the US.
Flying to Geneva with a petAn import permit before the flight, and a rabies antibody test from the US and other high-risk countries.
Flying to Dubai with a petThe CDC dog import form from abroad; nothing federal on a flight within the US.
Flying to New York with a petAn import permit that travels with the pet, and a veterinary health certificate.
Flying to the Bahamas with a petA small dog or a cat is comfortable on a light jet for an hour or two, but the Phenom 300's cabin is under five feet high and the floor space is narrow. For a large dog, more than one pet or a flight of three hours or more, a super-midsize or larger jet gives a six-foot cabin, a flat floor to lie on and room to move between the seats.
The range calculator has a question for exactly this: answer yes to flying with a pet and it travels with your route and party to our team.
Super-midsize, a six-foot cabin with a flat floor, coast to coast across the US non-stop.
The Challenger 350Three lounges and a cabin almost 40 feet long, with sofas a dog can share.
The Falcon 7XLong range and a wide cabin, for London to the US West Coast with the family dog.
The Gulfstream G650See which jets fly your route, with the pet question already answered.
Open the range calculatorSee your vet early. The rabies vaccination has to be at least 21 days old for most destinations, Japan needs six months or more, and some certificates must be signed within ten days of arrival, so the dates matter more than the paperwork.
Vets advise against sedation. The American Veterinary Medical Association warns that tranquillisers can raise the risk of heart and breathing problems, and strongly advises against them for snub-nosed dogs. A familiar bed, a long walk before boarding and a light meal a few hours ahead do more.
Bring the documents in paper and on your phone, the lead and harness, water, food for the trip and the bed or blanket the pet knows. Tell us if your dog is nervous with strangers; the crew can keep greetings at the airstair short.
There is no separate fare for a pet: the price is for the aircraft, and it follows the route, the aircraft size and the dates like any charter. Bank transfer in any major currency; crypto also accepted.

Private jet charter costsIt depends on the operator. Most ask for the dog to be on a harness, on your lap or in a secured carrier for taxi, take-off and landing, and some let a calm dog settle on a seat with a cover or on the floor in the cruise. We confirm the rule for your aircraft before you book.
There is no ticket for the pet: the price is for the aircraft. Some operators add a cleaning charge if the cabin needs a deep clean afterwards, and import permits or certificates have their own fees. Anything that applies is in the quote.
Yes, if the operator accepts it on that aircraft. For a large breed we suggest a super-midsize or larger jet, such as a Challenger 350 or a Falcon 7X, with a six-foot cabin and a flat floor where the dog can lie down.
Most operators want a person travelling with the animal: you, a member of your household or staff, or a professional pet handler. Tell us who will fly with the pet and we check that the operator accepts the arrangement before we quote.
Yes, in the cabin, if the charter operator is on the government's approved list for the arrival airport, such as Farnborough or Biggin Hill. The dog needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, a pet passport or health certificate and tapeworm treatment 1 to 5 days before arrival.
Vets advise against it. Tranquillisers can raise the risk of heart and breathing problems, especially in snub-nosed breeds. Speak to your vet, and plan a long walk and a light meal before boarding instead.
No federal paperwork is needed for a private flight within the mainland US. Some states ask for a veterinary health certificate for dogs coming in, so we check your destination state's rules when we book.
Tell us the route, the date, who is flying and the pet: species, breed and weight. We come back with aircraft whose operators accept it, and the paperwork for where you land.
