Heavy jet · Dassault
Dassault's three-engine, fly-by-wire long-range jet, chosen because it can land at London City after an Atlantic crossing, which very few cabins of this size can do.
A party of eight to twelve on flights of six to eleven hours: London to Dubai or Miami, New York to Nice, London to Los Angeles on most days. The cabin usually runs as three lounges, with the galley forward and a divan in the aft lounge that makes a bed.
The Global 6500 flies 650 nm further in a cabin 3 in wider but needs more runway. The G650 is faster, with larger windows, and costs more. The Falcon 8X is the same design stretched, with room for a shower. Under five hours with six people, a Falcon 2000LXS does the job for less.
Dassault no longer builds it, so every 7X on charter is used, dating from 2007 onwards, and interiors vary with age. The 5,950 nm assumes eight passengers; with a full cabin in winter, New York to Dubai and most flights to Tokyo take a stop. Newer jets have lower cabin altitudes and bigger windows.
Published figures for the type. Seating, beds and connectivity vary with each aircraft's layout and operator, and we confirm them for the actual aircraft before you book.

Range as published: Eight passengers, three crew, Mach 0.80 cruise, NBAA IFR reserves (Dassault). On the day it depends on passengers and luggage, winds, the airports, temperature and the reserves the operator carries.

The cabin is 39 ft 1 in long, 7 ft 8 in wide and 6 ft 2 in high, with a flat floor from the galley to the aft lavatory. Most aircraft have three lounges: a club of four behind the galley, a dining or conference group in the middle, and an aft lounge with a divan. Some add a crew lavatory forward.
Twelve to sixteen seats in three lounges; twelve to fourteen is the usual charter layout.
The aft divan berths as a bed and the club seats recline flat. On a night flight we check how many beds the layout makes before quoting.
Forward, and on many aircraft large enough for a cabin attendant to cook rather than reheat.
140 cu ft, pressurised and reachable in flight from the aft cabin.
Ka-band satellite Wi-Fi on many upgraded aircraft, usable over the oceans. Older installations are slower; we confirm the system before you book.
About 3,900 ft at 41,000 ft by one industry guide's figures, lower than most older heavy jets.
Dassault publishes 5,950 nm at Mach 0.80 with eight passengers, three crew and NBAA IFR reserves. A full cabin, winter winds and a distant alternate each take several hundred miles off that, which still leaves London to Los Angeles possible on most days.
Take-off needs 5,710 ft at maximum weight at sea level, and landing 2,070 ft at typical weight. London City's runway is shorter than the take-off figure, so a 7X leaves there light and with less range. The slow, steep approach is why it fits airports that jets of similar range cannot use.
Trips this aircraft flies well, each with its own page: the airports at both ends, flight times and indicative prices by cabin.
The 7X prices above the heavy twins and usually below a Global 6500 or G650. The fleet spans many years, so two quotes for the same trip can differ noticeably: a refurbished aircraft with Ka-band Wi-Fi costs more than one with its original cabin. A return with the aircraft waiting usually costs well below two one-way flights, and the written quote names the aircraft, its year and its last refurbishment.
As a guide, heavy jets charter at about $9,000 to $13,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.
When the Falcon 7X is not available on your dates, or the trip asks for something slightly different, these are the aircraft we would put beside it.

Up to sixteen in the densest executive layouts, but twelve to fourteen on most charter aircraft. For an overnight flight, eight to ten is comfortable, with beds for several.
Dassault publishes 5,950 nm with eight passengers at Mach 0.80 and NBAA IFR reserves. In practice that covers London to Los Angeles on most days and anywhere in Europe to the US East Coast, but New York to Dubai usually takes a stop.
Dassault builds its long-range Falcons as trijets. It argues that three engines allow more direct routes over water, and the extra thrust gives short-field and climb performance that lets the 7X use airports such as London City and Lugano.
Yes. It was approved for London City's steep approach in 2009 and was then the business jet with the largest cabin and longest range allowed there. Departures from London City are weight-limited, so long flights out of Canary Wharf may need a stop; arrivals from New York usually do not.
Usually, yes, in about eleven hours. With a full cabin into a strong winter headwind the crew may plan a stop, and we tell you at the quote stage if the forecast makes that likely.
The 8X is a 7X stretched by about 3 ft 6 in, with more powerful engines and 6,450 nm of published range against 5,950 nm. The extra length allows a shower or a larger crew rest; the 7X usually costs less to charter.
No; Dassault no longer lists it among its new aircraft, and the 8X has taken its place. Aircraft on the charter market date from 2007 onwards, so we check the age and last refurbishment of each one we propose.
Where from, where to, the dates and how many are flying. We come back with priced Falcon 7X options and comparable aircraft, usually the same day.
