The Bombardier Global 6000

Bombardier built the Global 6000 from 2012 until the Global 6500 replaced it at the end of 2019. It has the same fuselage and cabin as its successor, 600 nm less range, and more than 300 in service.

Who it suits

Eight to thirteen people on flights of up to about eleven hours: London to New York, Dubai, Miami or Los Angeles, or a family flying to Aspen for the ski season, which takes the Global 6000 and not the G650.

Why it is common on charter

More than 300 are in service, about a third of them based in Europe, and the largest single fleet, 28 aircraft in 2023, belongs to a charter operator (Jetcraft). So it is among the long-range jets most often offered for charter, on both sides of the Atlantic.

Against the 6500 and its rivals

The Global 6500 adds 600 nm of range in the same cabin. The G650 is wider and faster; the Falcon 7X matches the range on three engines in a shorter cabin. On a flight well inside 6,000 nm, the 6000 does the same job, usually for less.

Where it falls short

New York to Dubai, Miami to Dubai and New York to Tokyo take a fuel stop that a G650ER or Global 7500 avoids. The oldest aircraft date from 2012 and cabins vary with each refurbishment, so we send the year and photographs of every option.

Global 6000 vs 6500, and the Global Express XRS

EASA certifies all three as one model, the BD-700-1A10, with the same fuselage and cabin size. The 6000 is the Global Express XRS with a new flight deck and a quieter cabin; the 6500, in service from October 2019, adds Pearl engines, a reworked wing and the Global 7500's Nuage seats. Charter fleets fly all three, and we say which one each quote is for.

Global 6000 price, new and pre-owned

Most sellers no longer publish a price: all eleven Global 6000s listed on GlobalAir in September 2026 asked buyers to call, so the asking ranges below are a guide rather than the market. Year, hours and whether the 120-month inspection has been done explain most of the spread.

New Global 6500 About $61 million B&CA equipped price, 2026; $56m at launch in 2018
Pre-owned Global 6000 About $18m to $36.8m asking Guardian Jet, Oct 2026; JETNET $23.5m to $34.5m
Pre-owned Global Express XRS About $11.5m to $16.5m asking Guardian Jet, Oct 2026; Aircraft Bluebook $15m to $17m

Inside the Global 6000 cabin

The cabin is the same size as the Global 6500's. A common charter layout has a galley and club of four at the front, a conference or dining group of four facing a credenza in the middle, and an aft stateroom with a three-place divan opposite a two-place one.

01

Sleeping

The divans and club seats make up beds, and the aft stateroom closes off for the principal. How many sleep flat depends on the layout, so count beds rather than seats for a night flight.

02

Shower

Some aircraft have a stand-up shower in the aft lavatory; most have a full lavatory without one. Ask early if it matters.

03

Ride

The large wing carries a high load for its size, which damps turbulence. Bombardier and Aviation Week's pilot report both single out the smooth ride.

Global 6000 range in practice

Against Bombardier's 6,000 nm with eight passengers, Business Jet Traveler gives 5,890 nm with all thirteen typical seats filled at long-range cruise. As a working rule, legs of up to about eleven hours are non-stop with a normal cabin; at twelve hours and beyond, a Global 6500, G650ER or Global 7500 saves the fuel stop.

At maximum weight it needs 6,476 ft of runway to take off, about 330 ft more than the Global 6500, and 2,236 ft to land. Its 94 ft wingspan and 99,500 lb maximum take-off weight are inside Aspen's 95 ft and 100,000 lb limits; summer heat at Aspen's 7,800 ft limits the fuel it can lift on the way out.

  1. Non-stop New York to Los Angeles, about 5 h 15 About 2,130 nm, a third of its range, so a full cabin and its luggage travel without compromise.
  2. Non-stop London to Dubai, about 6 h 30 About 2,980 nm; an evening departure from Farnborough lands in the early morning.
  3. Non-stop London to Los Angeles, about 11 h About 4,730 nm, the longest leg it flies as a matter of routine; with every seat filled against a strong winter headwind, the crew checks the numbers first.
  4. One fuel stop New York to Dubai, about 14 h About 5,940 nm, too close to the published range, so it stops in Europe, usually at Shannon or Luton.

Global 6000 charter cost

The Global 6000 usually prices below a Global 6500 or G650 of similar age. Where the nearest free aircraft is parked moves the quote most, then the season, crew nights away, handling and de-icing. Past about eleven hours, set the time a fuel stop adds against the price of a 6500 or G650ER.

As a guide, ultra-long-range jets charter at about $12,000 to $16,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Bombardier Global 6000 cost?

To buy, pre-owned Global 6000s were listed at about $18 million to $36.8 million in October 2026, for aircraft built from 2012 to 2019, though most sellers now quote on request. New, it listed at $62.3 million in 2018, and the Global 6500 that replaced it costs about $61 million new in 2026. Most of our clients charter instead, which is priced per trip; see the next question.

How much does it cost to charter a Global 6000?

On our route pages a Global 6000 or similar is from about $62,000 one way for New York to Los Angeles, $88,000 for London to Dubai and $98,000 for London to New York, for the whole aircraft. Positioning moves the figure most, and the ultra-long-range hourly band in the cost section above is the guide for other trips. We reply with firm quotes in writing, payable by bank transfer or in crypto.

How fast is the Global 6000?

Its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.89, and Bombardier gives a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.88. In practice operators climb directly to about 45,000 ft and cruise at Mach 0.83 to 0.85, about 476 to 488 kn (548 to 562 mph), according to Business & Commercial Aviation. The Global 6500's reworked wing raises the top speed to Mach 0.90.

What is the range of the Bombardier Global 6000?

Bombardier publishes 6,000 nm (11,112 km) at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers, four crew and NBAA IFR reserves. With all thirteen typical seats filled, Business Jet Traveler gives 5,890 nm. In practice it flies London to New York, Dubai, Miami or Los Angeles non-stop, while New York to Dubai and New York to Tokyo take one fuel stop.

What is the difference between the Global 6000 and the Global 6500?

The 6500 replaced the 6000 at the end of 2019 with the same fuselage and cabin dimensions. It has Rolls-Royce Pearl engines with up to 13% lower fuel burn, a reworked wing with a Mach 0.90 top speed, Nuage seats, 6,600 nm of published range against 6,000, and needs about 330 ft less runway at maximum weight. A Global 6000 usually quotes a little lower and does the same job on any flight well inside its range.

What is the difference between the Global Express XRS and the Global 6000?

The Global 6000, delivered from 2012, is the XRS with Bombardier's Vision flight deck (Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion) in place of the Honeywell Primus 2000XP, and more sound insulation in the cabin. The fuselage, cabin size, engines and top speed are the same; Bombardier published 6,150 nm at Mach 0.85 for the XRS and 6,000 nm for the 6000. Both are offered for charter, and we name the version and year of each aircraft we quote.

How many passengers does a Global 6000 seat?

Up to 17 in the densest certified layout, though most charter aircraft have 12 to 14 seats across three zones. Fewer can sleep flat than can sit, so for a night flight count beds rather than seats; we send the floor plan of the specific aircraft with each quote.

Can a Global 6000 fly London to Los Angeles non-stop?

Yes. London to Los Angeles is about 4,730 nm, around eleven hours westbound, which is within its range with a normal cabin. With every seat filled against a strong winter headwind, the crew checks the numbers before confirming the flight as non-stop.

Can the Global 6000 land at Aspen?

Yes. Its 94 ft wingspan and 99,500 lb maximum take-off weight are inside Aspen's 95 ft and 100,000 lb limits, which the G650's wingspan is not. Aspen has no customs, so a flight from London clears at Eagle County first, and summer heat at Aspen's altitude limits the fuel it can carry on the way out.

Is the Bombardier Global 6000 still in production?

Not as a business jet. Bombardier delivered more than 320 from 2012 and replaced it with the Global 6500, which entered service in October 2019. More than 300 remain in service, so there is a wide choice of ages and cabins for charter.
