The Bombardier Global 6500

The Global 6000's 2019 successor on the same fuselage, with Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, Nuage seats and the range to make London to Tokyo and New York to Dubai usually non-stop.

Who it suits

A party of eight to thirteen on flights of eleven to fourteen hours. The cabin runs as a club of four Nuage seats, a conference suite and a private suite with a divan that makes a bed. A separate crew rest keeps the crew out of the passenger cabin on a long night.

Against its rivals

It is the usual choice when a Global 7500 or G700 is more aircraft than the trip needs. Against the G650 the decision usually rests on the particular aircraft, its age and where it is parked. One difference matters: the Global's 94 ft wingspan fits Aspen's 95 ft limit, and the G650's does not.

Where it falls short

New York to Tokyo and Miami to Dubai are at or past its practical range with a full cabin and usually stop. It has three living areas to the 7500's four. Many operators still fly the Global 6000, with 600 nm less range and the older cabin; we say which we are quoting.

Range as published: Eight passengers, four crew, Mach 0.85, NBAA IFR reserves, ISA (Bombardier, which notes that speed, weather and options affect it). On the day it depends on passengers and luggage, winds, the airports, temperature and the reserves the operator carries.

Inside the Global 6500 cabin

The cabin is 43 ft 3 in long, 7 ft 11 in wide and 6 ft 2 in high. Bombardier divides it into a club suite, a conference suite with a height-adjustable table for four, a private suite and an en suite. The galley has a convection and steam oven, and on aircraft with Soleil lighting the cabin follows the destination's time of day.

01

Seating

Up to 17 seats; charter aircraft usually carry 13 or 14 across the club, conference and private suites.

02

Sleeping

The three-place divan in the private suite berths as a bed, and other seats convert on most layouts. We confirm the number of flat beds per aircraft.

03

Shower

Available in the aft en suite, which has its own windows. Not every aircraft has one, so ask early.

04

Crew rest

A separate crew rest and forward lavatory, so on a fourteen-hour flight the crew rest without using the passenger cabin.

05

Baggage

195 cu ft, pressurised and reachable in flight through the en suite.

06

Connectivity

High-speed satellite Wi-Fi on most aircraft, often Ka-band, with Iridium Certus available for coverage over the poles. Fit varies by operator; we confirm it per aircraft.

Global 6500 range and performance

Bombardier publishes 6,600 nm at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers, four crew and NBAA IFR reserves, and says itself that speed, weather and options reduce it; at Mach 0.88 it is lower. London to Tokyo or Los Angeles is routine and New York to Dubai non-stop on most days. Miami to Dubai takes a stop in Europe.

Take-off needs 6,145 ft at maximum weight at sea level on a standard day, and landing 2,236 ft at typical weight. At Aspen the wingspan fits, but summer heat at that altitude limits take-off weight, so a long leg out of Aspen may need a stop.

  1. Non-stop London to New York, 7 h 30 Westbound with a large margin, even in winter.
  2. Non-stop London to Los Angeles, 11 h Non-stop westbound with a full cabin on most days.
  3. Non-stop London to Tokyo, 12 h Within range with a typical load.
  4. Usually non-stop London to Singapore, 13 h Close to the practical limit with every seat filled; eastbound winds help.
  5. Usually non-stop New York to Dubai, 12 h 30 Non-stop on most days; with a full cabin in winter we check the numbers first.
  6. One fuel stop Miami to Dubai, 15 h 30 At or beyond its range; usually a stop in Europe.

Global 6500 charter cost

It prices with the ultra-long-range jets, usually close to a G650 of similar age and below a Global 7500 or G700. A Global 6000 often quotes a little lower, which can be the right answer when the flight is well inside its range. On long stays we price both keeping the aircraft with you and sending it home between legs.

As a guide, ultra-long-range jets charter at about $12,000 to $16,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the range of the Global 6500?

Bombardier publishes 6,600 nm at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers and NBAA IFR reserves. In practice that covers London to Tokyo, Los Angeles or the Maldives non-stop and New York to Dubai on most days; Miami to Dubai and New York to Tokyo usually take a stop.

How many passengers does a Global 6500 seat?

Up to 17, though most charter aircraft carry 13 or 14 across the club, conference and private suites. For a night flight, eight to ten gives everyone space to sleep.

What is the difference between the Global 6500 and the Global 6000?

The 6500 replaced the 6000 in 2019 on the same fuselage, with Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, a reworked wing and a new cabin with Nuage seats. Published range rose from 6,000 nm to 6,600 nm. A Global 6000 often quotes a little lower and is a sound choice when the flight is well within its range.

Global 6500 or Gulfstream G650: which should I charter?

On range they are close, and the G650's cabin is wider. The choice usually comes down to the specific aircraft, its age and where it is based; one practical difference is Aspen, where the Global 6500 is within the wingspan limit and the G650 is not.

Can the Global 6500 fly New York to Dubai non-stop?

On most days, yes, in about twelve and a half hours. With every seat filled and strong winter headwinds the crew may plan a stop in Europe, and we check the forecast before confirming.

Does the Global 6500 have a shower?

Some do. Bombardier offers a stand-up shower in the aft en suite, but it is an option, so we confirm it on the specific aircraft before quoting.

Can I pay for a Global 6500 charter in cryptocurrency?

Yes. We accept bank transfer or cryptocurrency, and the quote is confirmed in writing in the currency you choose before the aircraft is booked.
