New York to Nice is 4,000 miles, which a heavy jet flies non-stop in about seven hours forty-five with the jet stream behind it. Ultra-long-range cabins are faster. The route is too long for a super-midsize jet without a stop, so it starts at the heavy cabins.
The six-hour time difference makes the overnight the natural pattern: leave Teterboro at 8 pm, land at Nice at 10 am. Nice's private terminals sit at the western end of the field, twenty minutes from the Promenade and forty from Monaco or Cannes; a helicopter covers the last leg to Monaco in seven minutes.
Nice closes between 11.30 pm and 6 am, so the overnight from New York is timed to arrive after opening. In May and June the airport's slots are allocated weeks ahead, and we plan Grand Prix and Film Festival trips accordingly.
