Fifty minutes, door to door in two hours

New York to Boston is 190 miles and the shortest route on this list. A light jet flies it in about fifty minutes. The value is at the two ends: a car to Teterboro, minutes on the ground, and Logan's private terminal ten minutes from Back Bay or Hanscom Field thirty minutes west.

This is primarily a business day-trip route. Leave Teterboro at 7.30 am, land at Logan at 8.20 am, and be back in Manhattan by early evening. Light jets and turboprops dominate. A midsize cabin suits a party of eight or a working flight.

Aircraft are based at both ends in numbers, so a same-day departure is routine and a round trip within the day is common.

What the flight costs

Prices below are indicative one-way figures for the whole aircraft, not per seat. They cover the flight, crew and fuel; Logan's handling and any parking are quoted separately.

A same-day return is usually priced well below two one-way flights, as the aircraft avoids an overnight. Ask for the figure on your dates.

Departure airports in New York

Teterboro handles most of New York's private departures, but it caps aircraft weight and closes to noisy movements overnight, so the largest cabins and some late flights go from Westchester, Newark or JFK.

Arrival airports in Boston

Logan is ten minutes from downtown with customs on the field; Hanscom Field, thirty minutes west, has easier parking and lower fees. Norwood suits light jets heading south of the city.

Aircraft that suit a fifty-minute flight

A light jet or turboprop covers fifty minutes at the lowest cost. A midsize cabin suits eight people or a working flight. Larger cabins rarely pay on this route unless Boston is the first stop of a longer journey.

When Boston fills up

Boston's peaks follow the universities and the sporting calendar, when Logan's slot windows and Hanscom's parking fill.

  1. April Boston Marathon Patriots' Day weekend brings a surge of inbound traffic; Logan slots go early.
  2. May Commencement season Harvard, MIT and the other universities graduate in the same fortnight; Hanscom is full.
  3. October Head of the Charles and the foliage Two weekends of leisure arrivals; the foliage peak fills Hanscom with weekend flights north.
  4. Autumn Patriots home games Sunday afternoons bring light jets into Norwood and Hanscom.
  5. Thanksgiving to New Year The holidays The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest private day of the year; the fortnight before Christmas is outbound to Florida and the Caribbean.

Boston to New York

The return leaves from Logan, Hanscom or Norwood and lands at Teterboro, Westchester, JFK or Newark; flight time is the same fifty minutes. The evening departure from Boston lands in New York in time for dinner.

Teterboro's voluntary curfew runs from 11 pm to 6 am, and Hanscom restricts the loudest aircraft overnight, so a late return may mean Westchester or Newark. On Marathon weekend and in commencement season, Logan's slot windows and Hanscom's parking are the constraints.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private jet from New York to Boston cost?

Indicative one-way prices for the whole aircraft start at about $5,500 in a light jet; about $7,000 in a midsize jet; about $9,000 in a super-midsize jet; about $13,500 in a heavy jet. Repositioning, overnight parking and handling are quoted separately once we know your dates, and a return with the aircraft waiting is usually priced well below two one-way flights.

How long is the flight?

About 50 minutes flight time for the cabins shown on this page, depending on the aircraft, the winds and the airports at each end. Every cabin class listed flies it without a stop.

Which airports can I use?

From New York: Teterboro and Westchester County. Into Boston: Boston Logan, Hanscom Field and Norwood Memorial. Each is described above with its drive time and the operators that handle private flights there.

How do immigration and customs work on arrival?

International arrivals clear US Customs and Border Protection at the FBO at Logan or Hanscom. ESTA or a visa is required for most nationalities; we confirm when we book.

Can my dog travel with me?

Pets travel in the cabin. On a domestic flight no paperwork beyond standard identification is needed; from abroad, a dog needs a microchip, a CDC import form and a rabies record.

Can I pay for the charter with crypto?

Yes. Bank transfer in any major currency; crypto also accepted. Tell us your preferred coin and we confirm the network and payment instructions with the contract.

Do you arrange the car at each end?

Yes. We coordinate chauffeured cars on both ends, so a car meets you at the aircraft in Boston and the driver knows the airport's private terminal.

Where would you like to fly?

Tell us what you have in mind. Our team will take care of the charter arrangements and discuss crypto payment if you prefer.
