The super-midsize jet charter fleets are built around: a flat-floor cabin over seven feet wide, eight or nine seats, and New York to Los Angeles in one leg.

Super-midsize jet · Bombardier
The Challenger 350 is the super-midsize most US charter clients have already flown, chosen for a cabin as wide as any in its class and a hold you can reach in flight.
A party of eight on a four- to six-hour flight, including coast to coast in either direction with a full cabin. At 7 ft 2 in wide the double club does not feel like a compromise, and a family can fetch a child's bag or a coat from the hold in flight.
Pick a Praetor 600 for more range, often enough to cross the Atlantic without a stop, or a Citation X+ when arriving first matters more than cabin space. The Challenger's edge is numbers. The 300 and 350 family passed 800 deliveries by 2020, so there is usually a choice of operators nearby.
With a realistic load and winter winds, London to New York needs a fuel stop in Canada or Iceland, and we quote it that way; eastbound with a light load it may go straight through, which we confirm only on the day. London to Dubai sits right at the edge.
Published figures for the type. Seating, beds and connectivity vary with each aircraft's layout and operator, and we confirm them for the actual aircraft before you book.

Range as published: Challenger 350 with eight passengers at long-range cruise in standard conditions; Bombardier quotes 3,400 nm for the Challenger 3500 with four passengers at Mach 0.77 and NBAA IFR reserves. On the day it depends on passengers and luggage, winds, the airports, temperature and the reserves the operator carries.

The usual layout is a double club, four facing seats forward and four aft, sometimes with a divan in place of one pair, a galley forward and the lavatory aft beside the baggage door. Bombardier now sells the type as the Challenger 3500, the same airframe with Nuage seats that tilt into a legs-raised recline and a 4,850 ft cabin at 41,000 ft. We tell you which you are offered.
Eight in a double club, or nine with a divan. Bombardier certifies up to ten.
7 ft 2 in across a flat floor, matching the widest cabins in the super-midsize class.
106 cu ft aft, with access from the cabin during the flight.
A forward galley rather than a refreshment centre; many aircraft have an oven for hot catering.
On many aircraft the facing club seats extend to make beds, so two to four can lie flat on an overnight leg.
Ka-band satellite Wi-Fi on some aircraft, fast enough for video calls; others carry US air-to-ground only.
Bombardier's 3,200 nm for the 350 assumes eight passengers at long-range cruise. With luggage, a winter headwind and charter reserves, plan on about 2,700 to 2,900 nm, six to seven hours. That covers the US coast to coast, the Caribbean from anywhere in the eastern US, and Europe to the Gulf with a stop in the eastern Mediterranean on heavier days. London to Dubai, about 2,950 nm, is planned with a fuel stop that we drop if load and winds allow.
The 4,835 ft take-off distance at maximum weight is modest, so Aspen, or Las Vegas in summer, is workable with the operator trimming fuel or passengers.
Trips this aircraft flies well, each with its own page: the airports at both ends, flight times and indicative prices by cabin.
The Challenger 350 sits mid-way in super-midsize pricing. With so many in service, prices are competitive and one-way availability is better than on most larger jets, particularly between New York, Florida and California. Across the Atlantic it usually undercuts a heavy jet even with the fuel stop, but the extra landing, handling and crew time narrow the gap to a Legacy 650 or Challenger 605 flying non-stop, and we price both.
As a guide, super-midsize jets charter at about $6,500 to $9,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.
When the Challenger 350 is not available on your dates, or the trip asks for something slightly different, these are the aircraft we would put beside it.

Eight in the usual double-club layout, or nine with a divan. Bombardier certifies up to ten passengers, but eight is the comfortable number for a flight of several hours.
Bombardier publishes about 3,200 nm with eight passengers, and 3,400 nm for the newer 3500 with four. In practice, plan on six to seven hours of flying with a full cabin, which covers the US coast to coast but not the Atlantic westbound without a stop.
Rarely, and we do not plan on it. Westbound against the winter jet stream, with a realistic load, it needs a fuel stop in Canada or Iceland. Eastbound, from New York, a light load and a tailwind sometimes allow a direct flight.
The airframe, engines and range are essentially the same. The 3500, delivered from 2022, has a redesigned cabin with Nuage seats, voice-controlled cabin settings and a lower cabin altitude of 4,850 ft at 41,000 ft.
Yes. The 106 cu ft baggage compartment is at the back of the cabin and accessible during the flight, unlike the external holds on most midsize jets.
Many charter aircraft have Wi-Fi. Some carry Ka-band satellite systems that work over the ocean and are fast enough for streaming; others have air-to-ground systems that work over the US and Canada only. We confirm the actual system before you book.
