Opa-locka is the default, open around the clock with three handling agents and customs on the field. Miami International is closer still to Brickell and the only Miami runway for a VIP airliner; Fort Lauderdale is the choice for Boca Raton and the northern coast. We choose the airport around where you are staying and the aircraft around the party, then hold the slot on the winter weeks that fill the city.

Miami's season runs from November to April, and its biggest weeks fill Opa-locka's ramp days ahead.
Passport details go to the handler before you land, the car is on the ramp at Opa-locka, and the boat, the suite or the table are arranged in the same conversation as the flight.
International arrivals clear US Customs and Border Protection on the field at Opa-locka and Miami International, and in a building attached to the Sheltair terminal at Fort Lauderdale. ESTA or a visa is required for most nationalities.
Pets travel in the cabin. Entering the US, a dog needs a microchip, a CDC import form and a rabies vaccination record from most countries; we arrange the paperwork with the handler.

Miami International for downtown, Brickell and VIP airliners, fifteen to twenty minutes from Brickell. Fort Lauderdale for Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and the northern coast. From the East Coast, usually yes: a light jet from New York, Washington or Atlanta can often depart within a few hours, and aircraft are based at Opa-locka for the return. From London or Paris, twenty-four hours is the realistic minimum because of crew duty times and customs notice, though we have done it faster.
About 2 hours 15 from Washington, about 2 hours 40 from Dallas, about 2 hours 45 from New York, about 4 hours 45 from Los Angeles, about 9 hours from London and about 9 and a half hours from Paris non-stop. Westbound flights across the Atlantic are longer than the return because of the jet stream.

Art Basel Miami Beach in early December, the busiest private-aviation week in the United States; the fortnight from Christmas to New Year; the Miami International Boat Show in February; and the Miami Grand Prix in May. On those dates Opa-locka's parking goes a month out, so we book the slot with the flight and hold Fort Lauderdale as the fallback.
