What an Airbus Corporate Jet is
ACJ is not one aircraft. It is Airbus's name for its airliners built for private, corporate and government owners, each one fitted out to order.
A family, not a model
Airbus builds the airframe with extra fuel capacity, in removable tanks in the hold on the narrowbody models, and a specialist completion centre fits the cabin to the owner's design. Airbus currently offers the A220-based ACJ TwoTwenty, the ACJ319neo and ACJ320neo, and the widebody ACJ330neo and ACJ350.
Who flies them
Governments and heads of state (Germany's air force flies three A350s in VIP layout), families who travel with staff and security, companies moving a board or a delegation, and sports teams on tour. On charter the usual client is a group of fifteen or more that wants to travel together, in rooms rather than rows.
Against an ultra-long-range jet
A narrowbody ACJ cabin is 12 ft 2 in wide and 7 ft 5 in tall; a G700's is about 8 ft 2 in by 6 ft 3 in. The business jet flies as far or further with a light cabin, costs less, fits airports with weight limits such as Teterboro, and is far easier to find at short notice.
ACJ models compared
The Airbus Corporate Jets are several aircraft, not one. Each row is a different airframe with its own range and cabin; seating, beds and showers depend on how each aircraft was completed.
| Model | Status | Typical VIP seating | Published range | Cabin | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ACJ TwoTwenty | In production | About 15 to 18 | About 5,650 nmAirbus's published maximum with up to five auxiliary tanks; the aircraft on charter quotes 5,200 nm with four | 78 ft 1 in × 10 ft 8 in × 6 ft 11 in (73 m²) | The smallest ACJ, built on the A220: a large-cabin alternative to a business jet on legs of up to about eleven hours. Narrower than the other ACJs. |
| ACJ319neo | In production | 14 to 19 | About 6,750 nm8 passengers, NBAA IFR profile, up to five auxiliary tanks, best engine option; charter operators quote 6,000 to 6,300 nm | 79 ft × 12 ft 2 in × 7 ft 5 in (83 m²) | Intercontinental legs of up to about fourteen hours with a bedroom, a dining room and a staff section. The longest-range narrowbody ACJ. |
| ACJ320neo | In production | 19 to 25 | About 6,000 nm8 passengers, NBAA IFR profile, best engine option | 89 ft 10 in × 12 ft 2 in × 7 ft 5 in (96 m²) | A larger group on Atlantic and Gulf legs, with about 11 ft more cabin than the ACJ319neo for a second lounge or more seats. |
| ACJ330neo | In production | About 25 in a private layout | About 10,200 nmACJ330-800 with 25 passengers | 147 ft 7 in × 17 ft 3 in × 7 ft 9 in (216 m²; up to 243 m² in the larger version) | A widebody government or family flagship for almost any city pair. Very rarely offered for charter. |
| ACJ350 | In production | About 25 in a private layout | About 11,100 nmACJ350-900 with 25 passengers, NBAA profile, 85% annual winds, 200 nm diversion; 10,300 nm for the longer ACJ350-1000 | 167 ft 5 in × 18 ft 5 in × 8 ft (270 m²; 308 m² in the -1000) | Non-stop between almost any two major cities, with room for a delegation. The largest ACJ and the rarest on the charter market. |
| ACJ319 (A319CJ) | Earlier model | 14 to 19 | About 6,000 nmAirbus's figure with 8 passengers on an NBAA IFR profile; operators of charter aircraft quote 3,800 to 5,600 nm, depending on the auxiliary tanks fitted | 78 ft 9 in × 12 ft 1 in × 7 ft 4 in (83 m²) | Most ACJs you can charter today are these, built from 1999: Atlantic and Gulf legs with the group together. Check the tank fit for anything longer. |
| ACJ320 | Earlier model | 19 to 30 | About 4,300 nmAirbus's figure with 8 passengers on an NBAA IFR profile; charter aircraft with 30 seats quote about 3,500 to 3,800 nm | 91 ft × 12 ft 1 in × 7 ft 4 in (96 m²) | Larger parties, teams and delegations on legs of up to about seven hours. |
| ACJ318 | Earlier model | 14 to 18 | About 4,200 nmAirbus's figure with 8 passengers on an NBAA IFR profile | 70 ft 11 in × 12 ft 1 in × 7 ft 4 in (74 m²) | The shortest ACJ: airliner width for a group within Europe or from Europe to the Gulf. Only a few are in charter service. |
Ranges are Airbus's published figures in the conditions stated, not what a full cabin achieves, and operators often quote less for their own aircraft. Seating, bedrooms and showers depend on how each aircraft was completed.

ACJ model guides
Cabin, range in practice, the routes each one suits and how it charters, model by model.
Which ACJ is right for your mission?
The model follows from the size of the group, the distance and the airports, roughly in that order. Beds, showers and layouts belong to the individual aircraft rather than the model, so we check each one against the trip.
- Group size Up to about 19: an ACJ319 or ACJ319neo. Twenty to thirty points to an ACJ320 or ACJ320neo. Beyond that, a widebody, or a narrowbody ACJ fitted with business-class seats for a delegation.
- Non-stop distance London to New York or Dubai suits any ACJ319 or ACJ320neo. London to Los Angeles or Tokyo needs an ACJ319neo or a well-tanked ACJ319. Past about 6,000 nm with a full cabin, only the widebodies go direct.
- Baggage The extra fuel tanks sit in the hold, so range and luggage trade off. Airbus counts about 28 large cases in an ACJ319neo with five tanks and about 85 with three. Tell us about skis, golf bags or equipment before we shortlist.
- Privacy Rooms with doors rather than zones. Most VIP layouts put staff and security forward and the principal's suite aft; the exact plan varies, so we send it.
- Bedrooms Many long-range ACJs have a stateroom with a full-size bed. Not all do, and sleeping counts vary: one ACJ319neo on Airbus's charter list seats 19 by day and sleeps 16 at night.
- Showers An en-suite shower is common on long-range aircraft, not universal. It depends on the completion and the water carried, so we confirm it on each aircraft.
- Conference layouts The dining table usually doubles as a meeting table. Some aircraft have a separate office or boardroom with a screen; if the flight is a working session, we shortlist those.
- Security Room for a close-protection team and its equipment. Security arrangements are cleared with the operator and each country in advance, so tell us early.
Where the ACJ flies
Long-haul trips where a VIP airliner earns its place, each with its own page: airports at both ends, flight times and indicative prices by cabin.
Popular routes
- London to New YorkAbout seven and a half hours westbound; any long-range ACJ flies it non-stop.
- London to DubaiNon-stop in under seven hours with the whole group together.
- London to the MaldivesAbout eleven hours to Malé, a runway built for airliners.
- London to Los AngelesAbout eleven hours: an ACJ319neo or a widebody for a full cabin.
- London to TokyoAbout twelve and a half hours; an ACJ319neo or a widebody flies it direct.
- New York to DubaiAbout 5,940 nm: a widebody goes direct, a narrowbody ACJ with a light cabin or a stop.
Destinations
- Private jet to New YorkFour airports take private flights into New York, and Teterboro puts you twenty-five minutes from Midtown.
- Private jet to LondonFive airports take private flights into London, more than any other city in Europe, and the right one follows the rest of your day.
- Private jet to DubaiAl Maktoum's business terminal is open around the clock, and Dubai International puts you twenty minutes from Downtown when a slot is available.
- Private jet to MiamiThree airports take private flights into Miami, and Opa-locka puts you twenty minutes from Brickell and South Beach with customs on the field.
- Private jet to the MaldivesThree airports take private jets into the Maldives, and the last leg to the villa is a seaplane or a speedboat, so the arrival time is planned around daylight.
ACJ charter cost
An ACJ is quoted for the whole trip rather than by the hour. The aircraft is rarely where the trip begins, so the positioning legs can be long; a narrowbody usually flies with two pilots, two cabin crew and often an engineer; and landing, parking and handling fees rise with weight, well above a large business jet's.
Airport choice moves the price too. Slots at Heathrow, Haneda or JFK cost more and are harder to hold than Stansted, Le Bourget or a business terminal nearby. Spread across 15 to 25 passengers, the cost per seat can compare well with two large business jets, and asking early for fixed dates widens the choice of aircraft.
As a guide, VIP airliners charter from about $18,000 to $28,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel, and in practice the quote is for the whole trip.
Long-range business jets to consider instead
For a party of fourteen or fewer, an ultra-long-range business jet flies as far, uses more airports and costs less. These are the ones we put beside an ACJ.

Frequently asked questions
What is an Airbus Corporate Jet?
An Airbus airliner built for a private, corporate or government owner, with extra fuel tanks for range and a cabin designed for that owner by a completion centre. The name covers a family: Airbus currently offers the ACJ TwoTwenty, ACJ319neo, ACJ320neo, ACJ330neo and ACJ350, and earlier ACJ318s, ACJ319s and ACJ320s are still flying.
What is the range of an Airbus Corporate Jet?
It depends on the model. Airbus publishes 6,750 nm for the ACJ319neo and 6,000 nm for the ACJ320neo, both with eight passengers, and 11,100 nm for the ACJ350-900 with 25. Operators of charter ACJ319s quote between about 3,800 and 5,600 nm for their own aircraft, depending on the fuel tanks fitted, so we check the plan for each trip.
How many passengers does an ACJ carry?
Most charter ACJ319s and ACJ319neos seat 19. ACJ320s and ACJ320neos range from about 19 in a private layout to 30 or more for a delegation, and a widebody is designed around about 25 in private use, with far more in government layouts. The number that can sleep flat is lower, and varies by aircraft.
Do Airbus Corporate Jets have bedrooms and showers?
Many do, but not all. Each ACJ is completed to its first owner's design, so one ACJ319 may have a stateroom with a queen-size bed and an en-suite shower while another is all seats. We send the floor plan and photographs of the actual aircraft with every option.
Can I charter an Airbus Corporate Jet?
Yes, though they are rare. Airbus's own charter listing shows about fifteen aircraft, mostly ACJ319s and ACJ320s, with two ACJ319neos and no ACJ350. Others are released by their owners from time to time. Asking early for fixed dates gives the most choice.
How much does it cost to charter an Airbus Corporate Jet?
It is quoted per trip, and the positioning legs, crew, landing fees and airport choice move it as much as the flying time. The indicative VIP airliner band is above; for a firm figure, send us the route, dates and group size and we reply with written quotes, payable by bank transfer or in crypto.
Airbus ACJ or Boeing BBJ: which should I charter?
They are close. The narrowbody ACJs have a slightly wider and taller cabin than the 737-based BBJs, with similar length and range on the ACJ319 and the original BBJ. In practice the choice rests on the individual aircraft: its layout, its age and where it is. We usually quote both.
Is the Airbus ACJ the biggest private jet?
Airbus describes its ACJs as having the widest and tallest cabins of any business jet. The ACJ350 is among the largest private aircraft flying, with 270 m² of cabin floor in the -900 and 308 m² in the -1000, but very few exist and they are seldom offered for charter.
