Velana International at Malé has a private terminal, clears immigration in the lounge and connects to most resorts by seaplane in twenty to sixty minutes or speedboat in fifteen to ninety. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so a jet landing after dusk means a speedboat resort or a night in Malé; we time the departure so you land with the sun still up. Maafaru, in the Noonu atoll, was built for private jets and puts Cheval Blanc Randheli, Velaa and Soneva Jani ten to thirty minutes away by boat with no seaplane at all.

Heavy jets from London and Geneva refuel once in Dubai or Muscat, adding about two hours; the Gulfstream G650 or Global 7500 flies either leg non-stop in about ten and a half hours from about $150,000. From New York an ultra-long-range jet stops once in Europe or the Gulf. Jet parking at Velana is limited over Christmas and New Year, so the aircraft may reposition to Maafaru or Colombo between legs; that is included in the quote.

The Maldives has a dry season from November to April and a handful of weeks when the best villas and the seaplane slots are booked out a season ahead.
Passport details and the resort go to the handler before you land, the seaplane or speedboat is waiting when you leave the private terminal, and the villa, the dive boat and the chef are arranged in the same conversation as the flight.
A free thirty-day visa on arrival for all nationalities, cleared in the private terminal at Velana or on the apron at Maafaru. Resort transfers are arranged with the handler before landing.
The Maldives does not generally permit dogs to enter, and most resorts do not accept pets. Tell us early and we will advise on the options.
A chauffeured car meets the aircraft on the ramp at Velana International, Malé or whichever airport you land at, and the driver knows the private terminal, not the commercial one.

It depends where you leave from. Indicative one-way prices for the whole aircraft start at about $14,000 from Mumbai in a light jet, about $34,000 from Singapore and about $36,000 from Dubai in a super-midsize jet, about $110,000 from London in a heavy jet with one stop, and about $185,000 from New York in an ultra-long-range jet with one stop. Repositioning, overnight parking and handling are quoted separately once we know your dates.

From Dubai, Mumbai or Singapore, a flight within twenty-four hours is realistic; the resort transfer is usually the tighter constraint. From London, Geneva or New York, forty-eight hours is the realistic minimum because of crew duty times, overflight permits and the daylight window for the seaplane, though we have done it faster.

Christmas and New Year, when villas, seaplane slots and jet parking at Velana are booked months ahead; Chinese New Year in late January or February; Easter; and the February and October half-terms. On those dates we book the seaplane with the flight and hold Maafaru as the alternative for the northern resorts.
