Nassau's Lynden Pindling is the gateway, open around the clock with two private terminals, customs on arrival at both, fifteen minutes from Paradise Island and twenty from Lyford Cay and Albany. Exuma International's 7,000 ft runway takes large cabins into Great Exuma and the Exuma Cays, and North Eleuthera puts Harbour Island ten minutes away by water taxi. Smaller strips on the private islands and the out islands take turboprops and light jets in daylight, so the aircraft is chosen around the runway as much as the party.

Prices are to Nassau; Exuma and North Eleuthera add about twenty minutes of flying and a few hundred dollars of handling. A heavy jet from London refuels once at Shannon or Bermuda, adding about an hour; the Gulfstream G650 or Global 6000 flies it non-stop from about $125,000 and needs Nassau rather than an out-island strip.

Private jet to the Bahamas

The Bahamas season runs from November to April, with the holidays and the American school breaks the busiest weeks.
Passport details go to the handler before you land, the car or the boat is at the private terminal, and the villa, the yacht and the fishing guide are arranged in the same conversation as the flight.
Customs and immigration are cleared on arrival at the FBO. Most nationalities, Americans, Canadians and Britons among them, enter without a visa. Returning to the US on a private flight, you clear US customs at the FBO of the first US airport; Nassau's preclearance is for airline passengers only.
Pets travel in the cabin. The Bahamas requires an import permit applied for in advance, a veterinary health certificate and rabies vaccination; we arrange the permit with the handler.

Indicative one-way prices for the whole aircraft start at about $5,500 from Miami and about $6,000 from Palm Beach in a light jet, about $15,500 from New York in a light jet, about $19,000 from Dallas in a midsize jet, and about $94,000 from London in a heavy jet with one stop. Repositioning, overnight parking and handling are quoted separately once we know your dates.

From Florida, usually yes: a light jet from Miami or Palm Beach can often depart within a few hours, and from New York or Washington the same day is realistic. From London, twenty-four hours is the realistic minimum because of crew duty times and customs notice, though we have done it faster.

Christmas and New Year, when Nassau parking and out-island slots are booked a month ahead; Presidents' Day weekend in February; the three weeks of spring break in March; and Easter. On those dates we book the parking with the flight and hold Exuma or Nassau as the alternative to the busiest strip.
