Why charter a PC-24

The PC-24 is the light jet to propose when the luggage is awkward or the runway is short: bulky bags go through a cargo door, and the airport list includes strips other jets cannot use.

Who it suits

Four to six people with more luggage than a light jet usually takes, or a destination with a short or unpaved runway. The 90 cu ft baggage room sits inside the pressurised cabin, so bags are reachable in flight, and the cargo door takes items a passenger door will not.

Against its rivals

Against the Phenom 300 it has six inches more cabin width, two more of headroom and a flat floor, but cruises about 25 knots slower. A Citation XLS+ adds a stand-up aisle; the PC-24 matches its width and its 90 cu ft of luggage space, and needs less runway.

Where it falls short

At 5 ft 1 in the cabin is not stand-up, and it is pressurised to a higher cabin altitude than a Phenom 300. Fewer fly for charter operators than Phenoms or Citations, so one may have to come from further away. Its range, like any light jet's, ends well short of an Atlantic crossing.

Original PC-24 vs the 2024 upgrade

Pilatus kept the name but made over 1,000 changes for aircraft delivered from 2024: a lighter structure at a higher take-off weight gives 600 lb more payload and 200 nm more range with six aboard. Most PC-24s flying for charter operators are earlier aircraft, so we say which standard each one we quote is built to.

PC-24 price, new and pre-owned

New prices have risen steadily, from $8.9 million at launch to about $14.3 million equipped in 2026, and used PC-24s have held their value with them. Year, hours and the engine maintenance programme explain most of the spread between used aircraft.

Inside the PC-24

The floor is flat from the flight deck to the rear bulkhead, with seat rails along its whole length, so operators fit six executive seats, eight in a double club, or, on aircraft delivered from 2024, a 6 ft 6 in side divan that converts to a bed. The lavatory is at the front, between the flight deck and the seats, and the baggage room is at the back behind a movable partition. Pilatus's 23 ft cabin length runs to the rear pressure bulkhead, so it includes that baggage room. We send the floor plan of the actual aircraft with every option.

01

Cargo door

A standard aft door 4 ft 1 in wide and 4 ft 3 in high (1.25 by 1.30 m). Golf bags, ski bags and cased equipment load straight into the baggage room; Pilatus says no other jet in its class has one as standard.

02

Baggage

90 cu ft inside the pressurised cabin, reachable during the flight. Moving the aft partition back lengthens the cabin and leaves 51 cu ft.

03

Lavatory

Enclosed behind a hard door at the front of the cabin, with a flushing vacuum toilet and a sink, serviced from outside the aircraft.

04

Cabin air

Pressurised to a cabin altitude of 8,000 ft at the 45,000 ft ceiling, and lower on legs flown below it. A Phenom 300 holds 6,600 ft.

PC-24 range and runways in practice

Pilatus publishes 2,000 nm with six passengers for aircraft delivered from 2024, about 200 nm more than before, and the figure assumes one pilot. Most charter PC-24s were built earlier and fly with two pilots, so with six aboard, luggage and a headwind, plan on legs of three to three and a half hours: London to Ibiza or Malaga, New York to Miami or Nassau.

Runways are why people choose it. The published balanced field length is 3,090 ft at maximum weight at sea level, and the landing distance over a 50 ft obstacle 2,410 ft. It has been certified for gravel and dry sand since 2018, for grass, wet earth and snow since February 2020, and for steep approaches including London City's. Height and heat lengthen the run: at 5,000 ft on a hot day Pilatus quotes 5,440 ft, so a summer afternoon in Aspen, higher still, can mean a lighter load. An unpaved or very short strip also needs the operator's approval, which we confirm before we quote.

  1. Non-stop London to Geneva, about 1 hour 30 Farnborough or Biggin Hill to Geneva, with ski bags loaded through the cargo door.
  2. Non-stop Dallas to Aspen, about 1 hour 50 Love Field or Addison to Aspen; on a hot afternoon the flight home may need a lighter load.
  3. Non-stop London to Ibiza, about 2 hours 20 Six passengers with summer luggage, all of it inside the pressurised cabin.
  4. Non-stop New York to Miami, about 2 hours 50 Teterboro or White Plains to Opa-locka or Miami Executive with six aboard.
  5. Usually non-stop New York to Turks and Caicos, about 3 hours 15 Near the limit for an earlier aircraft with six aboard against a headwind; comfortable with four.

PC-24 charter cost

A PC-24 prices with the larger light jets, close to a Phenom 300 and below a midsize jet. Fewer fly for charter operators, so one may have to position from further away, and that empty leg is part of the price; we quote the nearest PC-24 beside the nearest Phenom 300 or Citation so you can compare.

As a guide, light jets charter at about $3,500 to $5,500 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Pilatus PC-24 cost?

A new PC-24 costs about $14.3 million equipped, according to Business & Commercial Aviation's 2026 handbook; the first aircraft, delivered in 2018, listed at $8.9 million. In October 2026, 15 used PC-24s were for sale at about $9.2 to $12.6 million. Most of our clients charter instead, which is priced per trip: a PC-24 sits in the light-jet hourly band in the cost section above, close to a Phenom 300.

How fast is the PC-24?

Its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.74, and Pilatus quotes a maximum cruise of 440 kn, about 506 mph, at 28,000 ft. Flown for range at 45,000 ft it cruises at about 370 kn, according to Business & Commercial Aviation. A Phenom 300E is about 25 knots faster, which saves about six minutes on a two-hour flight.

What is the range of the PC-24?

Pilatus publishes 2,000 nm with six passengers and one pilot for aircraft delivered from 2024; earlier aircraft were quoted about 200 nm less. With two pilots, luggage and winds, plan on three to three and a half hours: London to Ibiza or Malaga, New York to Miami or Nassau. It does not cross the Atlantic as a charter.

Can the Pilatus PC-24 land on grass or gravel?

Yes. It was certified for dry sand and gravel in 2018 and, in February 2020, for grass, wet earth and snow, after tests in England, the Czech Republic, France and Canada. Low-pressure tyres on twin-wheel main gear make it possible. For a charter the operator must also approve the strip, and not every operator does, so we confirm the airfield before we quote.

What runway length does a PC-24 need?

Pilatus publishes a balanced field length of 3,090 ft at maximum take-off weight, at sea level on a standard day, and a landing distance of 2,410 ft over a 50 ft obstacle. Lighter loads need less. At 5,000 ft on a hot day the take-off figure rises to 5,440 ft, so mountain airports in summer call for a lighter load.

How big is the PC-24 cargo door?

4 ft 1 in wide and 4 ft 3 in high (1.25 by 1.30 m), at the back of the aircraft on the left, opening into the 90 cu ft baggage room inside the pressurised cabin. Every PC-24 has one. Golf bags, ski bags and cased equipment that would not pass a passenger door load straight in; tell us about unusual items before we confirm the aircraft.

How does the PC-24 cabin compare with the Phenom 300?

The PC-24 cabin is 5 ft 7 in wide and 5 ft 1 in high with a flat floor; the Phenom 300's is 5 ft 1 in wide and 4 ft 11 in high. The PC-24 keeps all the luggage inside, reachable in flight, where the Phenom's main hold is outside. The Phenom is about 25 knots faster, holds a lower cabin altitude (6,600 ft against 8,000 ft) and is far more common on charter.

How many passengers does a PC-24 carry?

Six in comfort in the usual executive layout, or eight with two extra seats added. Pilatus also certifies a ten-seat commuter layout, which charter clients rarely want. The seats run on rails and come out quickly, so the cabin can carry fewer people and more equipment.

Can you stand up in a PC-24?

No. The cabin is 5 ft 1 in high, two inches more than a Phenom 300, so most adults stoop, though the flat floor makes it easy to move about. For standing room, the Citation XLS+ has 5 ft 8 in and the Citation Latitude a full six feet.

Does the PC-24 have a toilet?

Yes: an enclosed lavatory with a hard door, a flushing vacuum toilet and a sink, at the front of the cabin between the flight deck and the seats. It is serviced from outside the aircraft.
