The 116509 is the white gold Daytona of the generation that ran until 2023, on calibre 4130, with the tachymetric scale engraved into a solid gold bezel rather than moulded into Cerachrom. The engraved bezel is the detail people come back for: it catches light in a way the ceramic does not, and it dates the watch instantly to anyone who knows.
Rolex listed it across an unusually wide set of dials — blue, silver, black, meteorite, and several with diamond markers. The blue is the one that reads as a dress chronograph rather than a sports watch, which is why it tends to be the one people describe when they say they want a gold Daytona they can wear with a suit.
It is a discontinued reference, so this is a watch found on the secondary market rather than ordered. That is not a disadvantage: it means dial, condition and set are all on the table as things you can specify, instead of taking whatever the list produces.

Is the 116509 still made?
No. It belongs to the generation Rolex replaced in 2023. Examples change hands on the secondary market, which is where we source them.
What is the difference between an engraved bezel and a Cerachrom one?
The 116509's tachymetric scale is engraved into solid gold and filled; the current references mould it into a ceramic bezel. The gold bezel can be polished and shows wear; the ceramic one cannot be polished but does not fade.
How do I know the dial is original?
That is part of what we set out in writing for the individual watch. On a discontinued reference we report dial, hands and bezel originality, any refinishing, and whether the watch has been serviced with replacement parts.
How long does it take to source one?
