Why charter a Citation Latitude
The Citation Latitude answers the usual complaint about midsize jets, that you cannot stand up, with six feet of headroom on a flat floor and the range to cross the United States.
Who it suits
A party of up to eight on a three- to five-hour flight: Los Angeles to New York eastbound, Miami to Las Vegas, London to the eastern Mediterranean. More than 400 have been built since 2015, and many fly charter from the main US hubs, so positioning there is short.
Against its rivals
Against a Citation XLS+ it is almost a foot wider, with a flat floor and about 900 nm more range; the XLS+ wins on price for short hops. Pick a Challenger 350 for more width, speed and a hold you can reach in flight, or a Praetor 600 to cross the Atlantic, both for more money.
Where it falls short
At 446 knots it is slower than a Challenger 350 or Citation X+ and arrives perhaps a quarter of an hour later on a five-hour flight. It cannot cross from New York to Europe without a stop, and the hold is external only, so anything needed in flight stays in the cabin.

Inside the Citation Latitude
Cessna designed a round fuselage for it, later used on the larger Longitude, with a flat floor from the cockpit door to the lavatory. Most aircraft have a club of four, a facing pair behind and a side-facing divan or single seat, with a refreshment centre forward and a lavatory aft that Textron calls the largest in its class. Cabin controls run from each passenger's phone or tablet.

Citation Latitude range in practice
Textron's 2,700 nm assumes four passengers at high-speed cruise with NBAA IFR reserves. With seven or eight aboard and winter winds, plan on about 2,200 to 2,400 nm, or five hours. Eastbound, that covers Los Angeles to New York most of the year; westbound in winter, with the jet stream on the nose, the operator may plan a stop.
Runway is rarely a limit, and it uses Hawthorne, Aspen and the smaller European fields. The published 3,580 ft take-off distance is for maximum weight at sea level; at Aspen or on a hot afternoon in Las Vegas it grows, and the operator may trade fuel for passengers.

Citation Latitude charter cost
The Latitude prices above a Citation XLS+ and usually below a Challenger 350 or Praetor 600. On a three-hour sector the difference over the XLS+ buys a stand-up cabin; on a five-hour one it often removes a fuel stop, which can make the Latitude the cheaper trip. One-way pricing is sometimes possible when an aircraft is heading home. Aspen at Christmas and Miami during Art Basel price well above the rest of the year.
As a guide, midsize jets charter at about $5,000 to $7,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.

How much luggage fits in a Citation Latitude?
The external hold takes 127 cu ft, enough for a suitcase and a soft bag each for eight, plus golf bags or skis. It is not reachable in flight, so keep anything you need on board in the cabin.
