Dallas to NYC: Love Field to Teterboro, with the clock in mind

Dallas to New York is 1,370 miles. Eastbound the westerlies help, and a light or midsize jet does it in about three hours, twenty minutes quicker than the westbound flight. New York is an hour ahead, so a 2 pm departure from Love Field lands at Teterboro at about 6 pm, with the car in Midtown for 7.

Teterboro is where most private flights from Texas land: no airline traffic, FBOs on the field and the shortest drive into Manhattan. Westchester suits Greenwich, the Upper East Side and Connecticut. JFK and Newark take the heavy jets and international customs, and Newark is the answer when Teterboro's voluntary night curfew rules out a late arrival.

Aircraft are based at both ends in numbers, so a same-day departure is usually possible and one-way pricing on this route is competitive.

What the flight costs

Prices below are indicative one-way figures for the whole aircraft, not per seat. They cover the flight, crew and fuel; parking in New York, repositioning and handling are quoted separately once we know your dates.

A return with the aircraft waiting at Teterboro for a night or two is usually priced well below two one-way flights. Teterboro parking is limited in the busiest weeks, so a longer stay may mean the aircraft flies to a nearby field and comes back for you.

Aircraft for three hours east

A light jet flies Dallas to New York non-stop with room to spare. Three hours is long enough that a midsize cabin starts to earn its price: you can stand, work at a table and use a proper lavatory. For a team of ten or a family with luggage for a week, the super-midsize and heavy jets fly into Teterboro just as easily.

When New York fills up

New York's private airports run near capacity all year. On these dates a temporary flight restriction or a slot programme can change the airport you use, so we plan them early.

  1. September United Nations General Assembly The week of the General Debate brings flight restrictions and a slot programme at Teterboro; Westchester and Newark absorb the overflow.
  2. Late August to September US Open Two weeks of inbound traffic to Westchester and Teterboro, peaking on the finals weekend.
  3. February and September Fashion Week Short, intense weeks of European arrivals; Teterboro parking is the constraint.
  4. Thanksgiving The long weekend The Wednesday before and the Sunday after are the busiest private days of the year on the East Coast.
  5. December to January Christmas and New Year Outbound to Florida, the Caribbean and the mountains peaks in the week before Christmas.
  6. Summer Fridays The Hamptons and Nantucket Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings from May to September fill the light jets and helicopters.

New York to Dallas

Flying west, allow about three hours twenty from Teterboro to Love Field. You gain the hour back, so an evening departure from New York still lands in Dallas before 10 pm.

Teterboro's voluntary curfew runs from 11 pm to 6 am. A departure before 6 am goes from Newark; after 11 pm, from Newark, or from Westchester until midnight. Over Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas, Teterboro's ramp fills and we secure the return when we book the outbound.

How long is the flight from Dallas to New York?

About three hours eastbound, a little more in a light jet, and about three hours twenty on the way back. New York is one hour ahead of Dallas.

Which NYC airport should I land at from Dallas?

Teterboro for Manhattan, twenty-five to forty minutes from Midtown. Westchester for the Upper East Side, Greenwich and Connecticut. Newark or JFK for heavy jets, international customs and arrivals during Teterboro's night curfew.

Can I arrive at Teterboro late at night?

Teterboro asks operators not to land between 11 pm and 6 am. For a late arrival we plan Newark, or Westchester until midnight, which costs you ten to twenty minutes on the drive.

Is a light jet comfortable for three hours?

For two to four people, yes. The Phenom 300 and Citation CJ4 have a lavatory and leather club seats. Above four, or if you want to stand up and stretch, a midsize cabin is worth the extra $3,500 or so.

Yes. Bank transfer in any major currency; crypto also accepted. Tell us your preferred coin and we confirm the network and payment instructions with the contract.

Can my dog travel with me?

Yes, pets travel in the cabin. On a domestic flight no paperwork beyond standard identification is needed; tell us when you book so we choose an operator that welcomes animals.

Where would you like to fly?

Tell us what you have in mind. Our team will take care of the charter arrangements and discuss crypto payment if you prefer.
