The BBJ 737 MAX 7 for charter
The BBJ 737 MAX 7 is Boeing's newest private 737: the original BBJ's cabin made a little longer, on new engines that carry it about 6,500 nm.
Who it suits
A family with staff and security, or a board with its advisers, of up to about nineteen, on legs of up to fourteen hours such as London to Tokyo. Boeing's fixed-price BBJ Select layouts put a crew rest and galley forward and a stateroom with a shower room aft.
Against its rivals
The Airbus ACJ319neo is the direct rival, with a cabin about 7 in wider and 4 in taller and a little more published range. Against the original BBJ, the MAX 7 is 6 ft 4 in longer, flies further and holds a lower cabin altitude. For fourteen or fewer, a Global 7500 costs less.
Where it falls short
Availability, for now. The FAA certified the 737-7 on 3 August 2026 and no BBJ MAX 7 had then been delivered; each still needs months at a completion centre. It also needs about 7,000 ft of runway at maximum weight and an airliner stand.

Inside the BBJ MAX 7 cabin
The cabin keeps the original BBJ's cross-section, 11 ft 7 in wide and 7 ft 1 in high, over 884 sq ft of floor. Boeing's BBJ Select layouts fix a crew rest, galley and VIP lavatory forward and a stateroom with its shower room aft, and let the buyer choose the rooms between. A fully custom completion can be laid out any way the owner likes.

Cabin air
Pressurised to a 6,500 ft cabin altitude at the maximum cruise altitude, where most airliners hold about 8,000 ft.
Airstair
A retractable airstair built into the fuselage, so the aircraft can board at a remote stand without ground equipment.
Baggage
The hold is shared with the auxiliary fuel tanks. Boeing quotes 1,125 cu ft before tanks are fitted; with a long-range set, a few hundred remain.

BBJ MAX 7 range in practice
Boeing publishes 6,500 nm with eight passengers and baggage, allowing for typical winds in the limiting direction, and a headline figure of up to 6,600 nm. A full cabin, winter luggage and a westbound leg in January all cut that, and with no aircraft yet in service these are Boeing's planning figures rather than an operator's.
At maximum weight it needs about 7,000 ft of runway at sea level, more in Gulf summer heat, and an airport that accepts a 177,000 lb aircraft. That rules out Teterboro and many island airports.

BBJ MAX 7 charter cost
There is no charter price yet: a BBJ MAX 7 has to be delivered, completed and placed on an operator's certificate first. When it is, expect it to be priced like the earlier BBJ, per trip rather than per hour, with positioning, crew hotel nights and airliner-scale landing and handling fees counting for more than the hourly rate.
As a guide, VIP airliners charter at about $18,000 to $28,000 an hour for the aircraft, crew and fuel. Positioning, airport charges, overnight costs and the season are added for the trip, and the quote is one figure in writing.

Not yet. The FAA certified the 737-7 on 3 August 2026, and no BBJ MAX 7 had been delivered at that point. Each aircraft is then fitted out at a completion centre, which takes many months, before an operator can offer it. For a trip now we quote the original BBJ, a BBJ2 or, where one is free, a BBJ 737 MAX 8.

What is the difference between the BBJ MAX 7 and the original BBJ?
Both are 737s with the same 11 ft 7 in cabin width. The MAX 7 is 6 ft 4 in longer, has CFM LEAP-1B engines and a 6,500 ft cabin altitude, and Boeing publishes more range for it. The original BBJ, built on the 737-700 and delivered from 1999, is the one available for charter today.
Does the BBJ MAX 7 have a bedroom and shower?
In Boeing's BBJ Select layouts, yes: the aft stateroom and its en-suite shower room are fixed, with the crew rest, galley and VIP lavatory forward. An owner who commissions a custom cabin can choose otherwise, so we confirm the layout of any aircraft we quote.
BBJ MAX 7 or ACJ319neo: which is better?
Neither across the board. They are direct rivals, narrowbody airliners with auxiliary tanks and similar range; the ACJ319neo's cabin is about 7 in wider and 4 in taller, the MAX 7's a little longer. On charter the choice comes down to which aircraft is free near the departure and how it is laid out, so we quote both where we can.
