From the Riviera to London in two hours
Nice Côte d'Azur to Farnborough is 645 miles, about two hours in a light jet and a little less in anything larger. Every cabin class flies it without a stop, and the choice of London airport matters more to the day than the choice of aircraft.
Most flights home from the Riviera start in Monaco, Cap Ferrat, Cannes or Saint-Tropez, not in Nice itself. The helicopter flight from the Monaco heliport to Nice takes about seven minutes, and Cannes-Mandelieu takes the light and midsize jets fifteen minutes from the Croisette.
The airline alternative is a scheduled flight from Nice's main terminal to Heathrow or Gatwick, with the queues at both ends. A private flight leaves when you reach the ramp, French border control is a passport check in the private terminal, and UK Border Force clears you inside the FBO on arrival.
Which London airport to land at is set out in our guide to the private jet airports in London: FBOs, customs and curfews, side by side.
