The RM 47 renders a full set of samurai armour across the movement: the kabuto helmet with its crest, the men-yoroi face guard, the shoulder plates, and two crossed katana laid across the baseplate. The pieces are cut, engraved and finished by hand in gold, and the kamon — the family crest — sits at the foot of the movement over the tourbillon cage.
The case is black TZP ceramic with gold elements, which is a deliberately quiet housing for something this ornamental. Under it is a manual-winding tourbillon; the sculpture is structural in the sense that it has to be assembled around a movement that keeps running, not laid over a dial.
It was made in a small series. Like every Richard Mille art piece, it is found rather than ordered, and provenance and condition carry more weight than they would on a catalogue watch.

Ceramic resists scratching but chips rather than marks if it is knocked. We set out the condition of the case, the bezel edges and the crystal for the individual watch, and tell you where any damage sits.
Is the armour applied to a dial?
No. The movement is skeletonised and the sculpted elements are assembled around it, which is why the construction is the difficult part rather than the engraving.
How many were made?
A small limited run. We confirm the series size and the provenance for the specific watch we propose rather than quote a figure from memory.
How long does it take to source one?
It depends on the configuration and how specific the brief is. We tell you what is realistic at the start rather than quote a number we cannot keep.
