Sculpture over a tourbillon, cut by hand and assembled around the movement.
The RM 57-01 puts a dragon and a phoenix — the Chinese symbols of the emperor and the empress — across the face of a manual-winding tourbillon. The figures are cut, engraved and finished by hand in gold and lacquer, then fitted around a movement that has to keep running underneath them, which is the whole engineering problem.
It was made with Jackie Chan and released in very small numbers across several case materials: gold, titanium and sapphire among them. The versions differ substantially in how the sculpture reads against the case, so “the RM 57-01” is not one watch to source but a small family of them.

How many were made?
Very few, and the count differs by case material. We confirm the series size and the provenance for the specific watch we propose rather than quote a figure from memory.
Is the sculpture applied to the dial or the movement?
It sits across the face of the movement itself, which is skeletonised rather than covered by a conventional dial. That is why the assembly is the difficult part.
Which version should I ask for?
Send a photograph of what you have seen. The gold, titanium and sapphire versions read very differently, and identifying the right one at the start decides whether a search is realistic.
How long does it take to source one?
It depends on the configuration and how specific the brief is. We tell you what is realistic at the start rather than quote a number we cannot keep.
