- Perpetual calendar
The complication that knows which years have a 29th of February.
A perpetual calendar carries a mechanical memory of the Gregorian calendar: month lengths, and the four-year leap cycle. Kept running, the 26574 will not need a date correction until the year 2100, when the calendar skips a leap year that the mechanism cannot know about.
Audemars Piguet lays it out across four subdials — day, date, month with leap year, and an astronomical moon — with the week of the year around the outer flange. It is a great deal of information on a 41 mm dial, and the Grande Tapisserie pattern underneath is what stops it reading like an instrument panel.
Putting this complication in a steel sports case is the part that mattered historically. Perpetual calendars belonged in gold on leather; the Royal Oak made one you could wear with a shirt and not think about, and that is still why people want this reference specifically.

Sourced to your brief, itemised before you decide
Nothing on this page is stock. A steel perpetual calendar Royal Oak is allocated, not stocked.
The brief
The dial colour and whether steel is the requirement. The same complication exists in gold, ceramic and titanium, and each is a different search.
Availability and timing
Confirmed for each request from our network. This is a low-production reference in a high-demand case, so we tell you what is realistic before you commit.
What accompanies the watch
Box, warranty documentation, booklets, the calendar setting tool and any additional links are itemised for the individual watch.
Condition and documents
For a perpetual calendar we confirm the calendar is running correctly, when it was last serviced, and whether it has been left to stop and reset. Condition of the brushed and polished surfaces is reported separately.

Frequently asked questions
What happens in 2100?
2100 is not a leap year under the Gregorian calendar, but the mechanism assumes every fourth year is. The watch will need a one-day correction then, and not before, provided it is kept running.
What if I let it stop?
Nothing is damaged, but the calendar has to be reset, which on a perpetual is a procedure rather than a twist of the crown. It is worth having done properly, and we tell you the setting position of any watch we propose.
How often does it need servicing?
A perpetual calendar is more sensitive to a lapsed service than a time-only watch. We report the documented service history for the individual piece and tell you where it sits against the maker's interval.
How long does it take to source one?
It depends on the configuration and how specific the brief is. We tell you what is realistic at the start rather than quote a number we cannot keep.
Can I pay in crypto?
Yes. Bank transfer in any major currency, or crypto; Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum, USDT and other major coins and stablecoins are accepted. The coin, network and amount are confirmed with you before any transfer.
Tell us the watch you have in mind
An exact reference or an idea is enough to start the conversation. We will take care of the search and discuss the options with you.
