Two weekends in the desert
Coachella is held on the polo fields of the Empire Polo Club in Indio, at the eastern end of the Coachella Valley, over two weekends with the same line-up. The festival is three days each time; the stay around it is usually five, in a house in La Quinta or Indian Wells, or a resort in Rancho Mirage or Palm Springs.
Getting there is the easy part from Los Angeles or Las Vegas: under an hour in a light jet against three or four hours on the freeway on a Friday. Getting in and out of Indio each day is the hard part. The airport is chosen by where you sleep, and the cars by which gate your passes use.
