Private aviation isn’t just reserved for people; sometimes, it extends to the world’s most valuable animals. Enter Air Horse One, the private jet that transports million-dollar racehorses across the country with precision, comfort and care that rivals any VIP human jet charter.
While the passengers may differ, the standards of service, attention to detail and commitment to safety are similar to those of high-end private jet travel.
What is Air Horse One?
Air Horse One is the name for aircraft used exclusively for equine transport. For years it was a Boeing 727 freighter, fitted to carry up to 21 horses in padded jet stalls. The jet is temperature controlled with expert ventilation, and handlers ensure that every horse experiences a calm, safe and comfortable flight. Since the 727’s lease ended in 2021, Tex Sutton has flown horses on FedEx freighters under the same name.
These flights are not standard practice; they require careful coordination, detailed planning, and professional staff with deep expertise in animal care. The end result is a seamless experience that mirrors the standards of elite private jet charter for human clients, where discretion, reliability, and comfort are upheld.
Air Horse One operators are specialists in equine aviation, serving a small but highly discerning clientele. From racehorse owners transporting their champions to competitions, to stud farms shipping prized breeding stock, every flight is tailored to the unique needs of each horse. The team at Tex Sutton Equine Air Transportation are recognised as the operator of Air Horse One.
Air Horse One and human private jet travel
While Air Horse One serves elite animals, the principles behind its operation are very similar to traditional private jet charter for us humans. Both charters require meticulous planning, dedicated staff, and an attention to detail to ensure a seamless, luxurious experience from start to finish.
At The 0.1% Group Private Jet Charter, we apply the same values to human travel. Every client enjoys tailored itineraries, discreet service, and an uncompromising standard of comfort and safety. Whether flying across continents or arranging last-minute international transfers, the goal is the same as Air Horse One: flawless execution.
This connection illustrates that private aviation, whether for horses or humans, is defined by trust, precision, and excellence. Understanding Air Horse One gives a unique perspective on the operational expertise required in luxury charter and shows why choosing a reputable provider matters.
How horses fly private
Transporting horses on Air Horse One is an orchestrated process, with each horse treated as an individual VIP passenger. Before boarding, horses are assessed for temperament and health, and their stalls are built with padding and secure harnesses to ensure safety during take-off, turbulence, and landing.
Handlers travel alongside the animals, monitoring their well-being throughout the flight. This level of attention is not unlike the personal concierge service found in luxury charter flights for humans, where every detail matters to create a seamless and stress-free experience.
Even the boarding process is designed for minimal stress. Horses are loaded in their stalls and the flight is planned to reduce noise alongside vibration, with gentle climbs, descents and turns. It’s an operation that demonstrates the same principles applied in human private jet travel: discretion, efficiency, and an unwavering focus on comfort.
Owners flying to the races themselves, to the Kentucky Derby or elsewhere, follow on a private jet of their own. And for dogs and cats, which can fly in the cabin beside their owners, see our pet-friendly private jet charter.

The cost of flying horses privately
Air Horse One flights are a significant investment. Costs vary depending on distance, number of horses and specific care requirements. Transporting a single champion horse can run anywhere from $3,000 to $20,000 per flight: the lower end within the US, the upper end for international flights and a private stall.
Clients are often racehorse owners, equestrian teams, and stud farms who demand not only efficiency but also the highest level of care for their valuable horses. The cost reflects more than just transport. Expenditure represents precision, trust and a commitment to excellence.
Conclusion: a shared sky of luxury
Transporting champion horses or high-net-worth travellers, private aviation is defined by one simple principle: excellence in every detail.
